Model History and Information: This 1:12 scale model reproduces the Triumph TR6 Trophy motorcycle ridden on screen by Captain Virgil Hilts, played by Steve McQueen, in the 1963 film The Great Escape. In the story, Hilts steals the motorcycle from a German soldier and rides for the Swiss border while pursued, in a sequence that includes the film's famous barbed-wire jump, performed by stunt rider Bud Ekins. The actual motorcycle used in filming survives today and is displayed at the Triumph Motorcycles Factory Visitor Experience in Hinckley, England, having been restored with most of its original parts retained.
