Model History and Information: The Cat® 320 is Caterpillar's 20-ton-class hydraulic excavator, used worldwide for digging, trenching, and truck loading. Current Cat 320 models are rated at operating weights up to 49,800 lb (about 22.6 tonnes) and run twin-pump hydraulics with a combined maximum flow of about 429 L/min (113 gal/min) at up to 35,000 kPa, with an automatic Smart power mode that matches engine and hydraulic output to digging conditions to reduce fuel use. The line is rated for high-ambient operation up to 52°C (125°F) and for cold starts down to -32°C (-25°F). Caterpillar has continued to refine fuel efficiency, controllability, and cab comfort across 320 generations while keeping the reliability the model is known for.
