Model History and Information: BMW Motorsport built the M3 Sport Evolution, also known as Evo III, as the final and most extensive homologation update of the original E30 M3, needed to keep the Group A racing package competitive. Unveiled in early 1990, it enlarged the four-cylinder engine from 2.3 to 2.5 litres, raising output to 238 hp, and added an adjustable front splitter and a larger rear wing for extra downforce. BMW built 600 examples, more than the 500 required for homologation, all in left-hand drive. This example is finished in Glanzschwarz (gloss black), one of the colours offered on the Sport Evolution.
