Model History and Information: The Chevrolet Nomad originated as a "dream car" shown at General Motors’ 1954 Motorama, a fiberglass-bodied two-door wagon styled by Chevrolet’s design studio under GM styling chief Harley Earl, sharing its front-end look with the Corvette. Public response was strong enough that Chevrolet adapted the design to its standard 1955 full-size chassis and put the Nomad into production as the flagship of its "Tri-Five" station wagon line. Despite its distinctive styling, with a forward-slanting B-pillar and wraparound rear glass, sales were modest, and the Nomad nameplate was dropped after the 1957 model year.
