Model History and Information: The Cat 299C is a compact track loader from Caterpillar's C-Series line, since replaced by the D2 and D3 generations, built with a fully suspended, steel-embedded rubber-track undercarriage designed to smooth the ride and improve load retention on rough terrain. Its heavy-duty torsion axles let the tracks move independently relative to the machine and each other, absorbing shock before it reaches the operator, while ground pressure ranges from 4.0 to 4.3 psi depending on configuration. Power comes from a Cat C3.4 turbocharged diesel, and the vertical-lift design gives a lift height of about 129 inches for reaching over truck sides. Compatible with a wide range of Cat work tools, it handles loading, grading, and material handling with stability and flotation.
