Model History and Information: Land Rover unveiled the Velar at the London Design Museum on 1 March 2017 and launched it at the Geneva motor show six days later, slotting it between the Evoque and the Range Rover Sport. It introduced a smoother design language for the brand, with a drag coefficient of 0.32, the lowest Land Rover had achieved, and door handles that sit flush in the bodywork and deploy only when the car is unlocked. The First Edition headed the range at launch. In 2018 the Velar was named World Car Design of the Year.
