Model History and Information: Great Dane traces its origins to 1900, when it began as the Savannah Blow Pipe Company in Savannah, Georgia. In 1931, by then renamed The Steel Products Company, it began building a new generation of highway trailers, and the company credits trailer builder William Lowndes and his employees with the Great Dane name. Its dry vans were branded Champion in the 2010s. Great Dane builds the Champion in Sheet-and-Post and Composite versions and in 28-foot pup, 48-foot and 53-foot lengths, with hot-dipped galvanized rear impact guards, bracing and support gear mounting plates, plus FleetPulse asset tracking, as standard. This 1:64 model reproduces the 53ft Champion dry cargo trailer as a standalone unit.
