Model History and Information: Caterpillar introduced the new Cat 336 hydraulic excavator in July 2022. It is powered by the Cat C7.1 engine, with Power, Smart and Eco modes; Eco holds engine speed at 1500 rpm to reduce fuel consumption. The machine is rated for cold starts down to -18 C (0 F), for ambient temperatures up to 52 C (125 F) and for work at up to 4500 m (14,764 ft) above sea level. Standard operator technologies include Cat Payload on-board weighing, Grade Assist and 2D Grade with depth and slope indication, and Operator ID can save joystick button, response and pattern preferences for individual operators.
