Model History and Information: The Cat® 395 is Caterpillar's Next Generation large excavator, introduced to replace the 390F with, Caterpillar says, up to 10 percent more production, twice the structural durability, and up to 20 percent lower maintenance costs. It runs a Cat C18 engine rated at 543 hp (405 kW), with an operating weight of about 205,471 lb, and uses a dedicated hydrostatic swing circuit, a technology Caterpillar had previously reserved for larger mining shovels such as the 6015B, to increase swing torque and stick force by about 10 percent. This release represents the 395's Mass Excavator front, built for high-volume truck loading, and is fitted with metal tracks. This 1:87 scale model reproduces that Mass Excavator configuration.
