Model History and Information: Caterpillar introduced the D11 in 1986 as the D11N, replacing the D10, and it remains Caterpillar's largest and most powerful bulldozer. Its elevated-sprocket, high-drive undercarriage lifts the final drives away from ground impact, extending durability for the mining and heavy dozing work the D11 is built for, and the machine is also used to push-load scrapers and rip rock overburden. Later generations, the D11R and D11T, kept this layout while adding electronic controls and the Cat C32 ACERT engine.
