Product Dimensions: 8.5 x 8.5 x 2.8 in.
Model History and Information: The Boeing C-97 was a large, double-deck strategic transport derived from the B-29/B-50 lineage, entering US service in the late 1940s. As frontline units re-equipped, many airframes passed to Air National Guard airlift squadrons. Several New York Air National Guard groups flew the type, including the 105th at Westchester County Airport with the 137th Air Transport Squadron, the 106th at Suffolk County Airport, and the 109th at Schenectady with the 139th Air Transport Squadron. In Guard service the Stratofreighter performed long-range cargo and aeromedical transport duties. Its capacious pressurised fuselage and clamshell rear loading made it a valuable heavy-lift asset during the 1960s.
