Model History and Information: The 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 was, at launch, the most powerful street-legal Ford ever built. Its 5.2-litre supercharged V8 uses a cross-plane crankshaft and a 2.65-litre Roots-type supercharger to produce 760 hp and 625 lb-ft of torque, sent to the rear wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, a gearbox layout new to the Mustang line. Ford claims a 0-60 mph time of 3.3 seconds and a limited top speed of 180 mph. Wider composite fenders, a louvred hood vent, a front splitter and an adjustable rear wing distinguish the GT500 from lesser Mustangs.
