Model History and Information: Caterpillar's D8T, the current generation of its D8 line, replaced the D8R Series 2 in 2004 with a Cat C15 ACERT engine rated at 310 horsepower, continuing the elevated-sprocket, high-drive undercarriage the D8 gained in 1982 with the D8L. In its standard configuration, the D8T is set up for heavy dozing and ripping in general construction and mining, without the extra guarding and landfill blade Caterpillar fits to its waste-handling version. This 1:50 High Line replica reproduces the standard D8T with a dozer blade that raises, lowers and tilts, a triple-shank ripper and a removable cabin roof and operator figure.
