Product Dimensions: 8.1 x 8.1 x 3.1 in.
Model History and Information: Marine Attack Squadron 211, the Wake Island Avengers, carries a lineage reaching back to the interwar Marine Corps and earned lasting fame during the 1941 defense of Wake Island. Flying the AV-8B Harrier II under the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, the squadron deployed to Helmand Province, Afghanistan, for Operation Enduring Freedom. In September 2012 an insurgent raid on Camp Bastion destroyed six of the squadron's Harriers, the heaviest single-day loss of American air power since the Vietnam War. The unit reconstituted quickly and was back flying close air support across southern Afghanistan the following year, the period this model represents, with rebuilt aircraft and replenished crews.
