Model History and Information: Escadron de Chasse 3/10 'Vexin' was the French Air Force's fighter squadron in Djibouti, guarding French interests at the mouth of the Red Sea from the base there. To suit its Horn of Africa surroundings, Vexin was the only unit to apply a desert camouflage to the Armée de l'Air's Mirage IIIC, giving its Mach-2 delta interceptors a sand-and-brown finish over pale blue. Operating far from mainland France, the squadron provided air defence and a visible French military presence in the region. This aircraft, coded 10-LB, wears that distinctive desert scheme as seen in Djibouti in 1984.
