Model History and Information: The Cat® 395 is Caterpillar's Next Generation large excavator, introduced to replace the 390F with, Caterpillar says, up to 10 percent more production, twice the structural durability, and up to 20 percent lower maintenance costs. It runs a Cat C18 engine rated at 543 hp (405 kW) and uses a dedicated hydrostatic swing circuit, shared with larger Cat mining shovels such as the 6015B, to raise swing torque and stick force by about 10 percent. This release represents the 395's Mass Excavation (ME) front, the heavier configuration built for loading large trucks in high-volume mining-support and quarry work rather than the standard General Purpose front. This 1:87 scale model reproduces that ME configuration.
