Model History and Information: The Cat® 320 is Caterpillar's current medium hydraulic excavator, occupying the roughly 20-ton class the model has held since its first generations, used for digging, trenching, and truck loading. The version Caterpillar currently lists meets U.S. Tier 4 Final and EU Stage V emission standards, delivers 172 hp (128.5 kW) net power, and reaches a maximum digging depth of 22 ft (6,720 mm) at an operating weight of about 49,800 lb (22,600 kg). Caterpillar positions it on standard factory technology and an operator-focused cab, intended to lower fuel and maintenance costs compared with earlier 320 generations. This 1:50 scale model reproduces that current production configuration.
