Model History and Information: The Messerschmitt Bf 109F was the version of Germany's principal single-seat fighter in service during the fighting over the Western Desert in 1942, its tropicalised examples fitted with sand filters for North African conditions. 'Yellow 14' was the regular aircraft of Hans-Joachim Marseille of 3rd Staffel, Jagdgeschwader 27, one of the most successful Luftwaffe fighter pilots, credited with 158 victories, almost all against the British Commonwealth's Desert Air Force. He was noted for a difficult high-deflection shooting technique. Marseille was killed on 30 September 1942 when he bailed out of a mechanically stricken aircraft. This model depicts his Bf 109F-4 in its desert markings.
