Model History and Information: Catalogued as G-507, this was a 1.5-ton, 6x6 cargo and personnel carrier built by Dodge. It was created by lengthening the three-quarter-ton weapons carrier and adding a third axle after the U.S. Army enlarged rifle squads from eight to twelve men, leaving the smaller truck too limited. Sharing the cab, front sheet metal and much of the drivetrain of the lighter WC models simplified supply and maintenance. The six-driven-wheel layout gave strong mobility over mud and broken ground while hauling troops, ammunition and towed weapons. The designation specifically denotes the variant fitted with a front power-take-off winch; 20,132 winch-equipped examples were built, alongside 23,092 of the unwinched companion model.
