Model History and Information: Strike Fighter Squadron 125, the Rough Raiders, is a United States Navy fleet replacement squadron based at Naval Air Station Lemoore, California, under the Joint Strike Fighter Wing. Reactivated in January 2017, its mission is to introduce the F-35C to the fleet and to train the pilots and maintainers who will operate and sustain the aircraft. The C is the carrier variant of the fifth-generation Lightning II, distinguished by enlarged folding wings, reinforced landing gear and a tailhook suited to catapult-assisted takeoff and arrested landing. As the training pipeline for naval F-35C aviators, the Rough Raiders play a foundational role in fielding stealth airpower across the carrier force.
