Model History and Information: The F-4G Wild Weasel V was a specialized Phantom built to hunt enemy radar and surface-to-air missile sites, carrying the AN/APR-47 detection system and anti-radiation missiles such as the AGM-88 HARM. The 561st Tactical Fighter Squadron flew the type from George Air Force Base, California, in the Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses role. In August 1990, F-4Gs deployed to Isa Air Base, Bahrain, and during Operation Desert Storm in 1991 they flew ahead of strike packages, forcing Iraqi radars off the air and striking air-defense sites.
