Model History and Information: VFC-111 Sun Downers is a US Navy Reserve adversary squadron at Naval Air Station Key West, Florida, providing dissimilar air combat training to Navy, Marine and Air Force units. It flies single-seat F-5N Tigers plus one unusual two-seat F-5F nicknamed the FrankenTiger. That jet was produced using a Northrop conversion that grafted an F-5F forward fuselage onto the low-hours rear fuselage of an ex-Swiss F-5E; three such trainers were built, one delivered to the squadron in December 2008. The aircraft supports adversary sorties and pilot currency, and this replica depicts it in 2023 squadron markings.
