Model History and Information: Finland's armed forces bought 124 second-hand Leopard 2A4 tanks from German army surplus stocks under a contract signed on 17 September 2002, with deliveries carried out during 2003 and 2004. In Finnish service they carry the Ps. 273 vehicle designation, using the army's Ps. (panssarivaunu) prefix for armoured vehicles, followed by an individual serial number. KNDS, formerly Krauss-Maffei Wegmann, identifies the Leopard 2A4 as a 55-tonne main battle tank armed with a 120 mm L44 smooth-bore cannon.
