Leopard 2A4, Swiss Army, Pz.87, 13th Pz. battalion, Steel Army Parade, Thun, 2006
Product Dimensions: 5.45 x 2.02 x 1.53 in.
Model History and Information: Switzerland ordered 380 Leopard 2A4 tanks under Armament Programme 84, taking the Swiss Army designation Pz 87; the first 35 were built in Germany, and the remaining 345 were licence-built in Thun between 1987 and 1993. The 13th Panzer Battalion is one of the Swiss Army units that operates the type. In 2006 a Pz 87 from the battalion took part in the Steel Parade held during that year's Army Days in Thun, the same town where the tanks themselves were assembled. KNDS, formerly Krauss-Maffei Wegmann, identifies the Leopard 2A4 as a 55-tonne main battle tank armed with a 120 mm L44 smooth-bore cannon.
