Model History and Information: For China the Korean War was where a brand-new jet air arm learned its trade. The People's Volunteer Air Force sent successive MiG-15bis regiments to the Yalu front, rotating units through combat so that fresh pilots gained experience while tired ones stood down. Losses were heavy at first against battle-hardened opponents, but the survivors passed on what they had learned, and by 1952 much of the air fighting on the communist side was being carried by Chinese and North Korean divisions rather than Soviet ones. This model represents one of those Volunteer Air Force MiG-15bis fighters in its Korean-era markings.
