Model History and Information: When Chinese forces intervened in the Korean War, the People's Volunteer Air Force took the swept-wing MiG-15bis into combat over the north-west of the peninsula, the area American pilots called MiG Alley. Flying from bases around Antung on the Chinese side of the Yalu River, its regiments contested the skies against United Nations aircraft, especially the F-86 Sabre. Early Chinese formations were inexperienced and suffered against seasoned opponents, but the pilots learned quickly, both from combat and from the Soviet airmen operating alongside them. This model represents one of those Volunteer Air Force MiG-15bis fighters in the markings of the period.
