Model History and Information: The MiG-17 was the Soviet Union's standard day fighter of the 1950s, a swept-wing development of the MiG-15 refined after the lessons of the Korean War. The MiG-17F introduced an afterburning engine that improved climb and speed, and the type served in huge numbers with the Soviet Air Force and was exported and licence-built across the Eastern Bloc and beyond. NATO gave the afterburner-equipped version the reporting name Fresco-C. Armed with cannon and able to carry unguided rocket pods, it was a rugged, agile fighter that remained in front-line and training use for many years. This model wears the markings of a Soviet Air Force example.
