Model History and Information: This airframe represents Iraq's operation of the MiG-25 Foxbat, the stainless-steel Soviet-built reconnaissance-bomber capable of speeds near Mach 2.8 and altitudes above 20,000 metres. Iraq fielded a mix of MiG-25 interceptors and reconnaissance-bombers; during the 1991 Gulf War most were destroyed on the ground and two were shot down by US Air Force F-15s using AIM-7 Sparrow missiles. Surviving Foxbats were dispersed, camouflaged, or buried to avoid detection. During the 2003 invasion, coalition forces uncovered a MiG-25 partially buried in the desert. That recovered Iraqi aircraft is now preserved and displayed at the National Museum of the United States Air Force near Dayton, Ohio. The named serial, unit, date and finish on this model identify the individual historical subject represented: MIG-25RBT 25105, Iraqi AF, National Museum of the USAF (1:72 Scale).
