The Ukrainian Air Force later clarified that the Ghost was not a single individual but a collective legend representing the pilots defending Kyiv and the surrounding region. The MiG-29 itself is a twin-engined, highly manoeuvrable Soviet-designed fighter that forms part of Ukraine's air-defence force. This model wears the striking dark 'Ghost of Kyiv' scheme created in honour of those wartime defenders.
