Model History and Information: The Republic of China Air Force was the first export customer for the Mirage 2000-5, ordering 48 single-seat 2000-5EI fighters and 12 two-seat 2000-5DI trainers in the early 1990s. Deliveries began in 1997, and the type entered service with the 499th Wing at Hsinchu, tasked with air defense and interception. Twenty years later, in 2017, the ROCAF applied a commemorative marking celebrating two decades of Mirage operations. Armed with MICA beyond-visual-range and Magic short-range air-to-air missiles and equipped with the RDY radar, the interceptor remains one of Taiwan's principal air-superiority assets.
