Model History and Information: Taiwan became the first customer for the Mirage 2000-5, signing a contract on 17 November 1992 for sixty aircraft: forty-eight single-seat 2000-5Ei interceptors and twelve two-seat 2000-5Di. Deliveries ran from 6 May 1997 to 26 November 1998. The two-seaters were built without an internal cannon, though they can carry a ventral pod housing two DEFA 554 guns. Numbered 2051 to 2062, they serve alongside the single-seaters with the 2nd (499th) Tactical Fighter Wing at Hsinchu Air Base in northern Taiwan, flying air-defence and interception duties armed with the MICA missile. Serial 2051 carries construction number Di01, making it the first two-seater delivered.
