Model History and Information: On 19 March 2011 France opened the international intervention in Libya, codenamed Operation Harmattan, enforcing the UN-mandated no-fly zone established under Security Council Resolution 1973. French fighters were among the first coalition aircraft over the country, striking regime armoured columns advancing on Benghazi. Rafales operated from Saint-Dizier air base, whose numeric identifier appears in this aircraft's tail code, flying long-range sorties supported by aerial refuelling. The two-seat Rafale B carried reconnaissance pods and precision air-to-ground munitions across the seven-month campaign that ended in October 2011. This model represents a French Air Force Rafale B wearing its 2011 Harmattan markings.
