Model History and Information: The Sky Lancers were one of several aerobatic teams the Royal Canadian Air Force formed among its squadrons stationed in Europe during the 1950s. The first team was created in 1955 by 2 (Fighter) Wing at Grostenquin in France, flying Canadair-built Sabres through twenty displays that season. For 1956 the name passed to 4 (Fighter) Wing at Baden-Soellingen in Germany, with new pilots and a new colour scheme. That second team's season ended on 2 March 1956, when four of its five pilots were lost in a training accident over the Rhine valley. RCAF display flying stopped until the Golden Hawks were formed in 1959.
