Model History and Information: The Jagdpanther paired the 8.8 cm Pak 43, the same class of gun carried by the Tiger II, with the hull, engine and suspension of the Panther. The result was a tank destroyer that could knock out any Allied tank it was likely to meet while keeping the Panther's mobility and sloped frontal armour. A full-size model was shown to Hitler in October 1943 and production began that January, with the shortened name adopted in February. Allied bombing kept output far below the planned rate: about 415 were completed by three manufacturers before the war ended.
