Model History and Information: The BAC Jet Provost T.5 series was the pressurised final development of the Royal Air Force's standard jet basic trainer, built by the British Aircraft Corporation and in service from the late 1960s until the type was retired in 1993. Its pressurised cabin permitted higher-altitude training than earlier marks, and later airframes received avionics updates. No. 6 Flying Training School was among the RAF units that operated the Jet Provost T.5 in the ab initio basic-training role, taking student pilots through their first jet flying before they progressed toward advanced training. Aircraft of this type typically wore the RAF's red-and-white training scheme.
