Model History and Information: Nineteen seventy-six marked the United States Bicentennial, an anniversary commemorated across the armed forces with special aircraft markings. During that year the US Air Force aerial demonstration team was operating the Northrop T-38 Talon, which it flew from 1974 until 1982. The lightweight supersonic trainer had replaced the F-4 Phantom largely for fuel economy, and its display stressed close formation and rapid maneuvering. As with earlier team aircraft, the lead ship was assigned to the squadron commander. This model depicts a Talon in the demonstration scheme of the Bicentennial era.
