Model History and Information: Supplied to Britain and Commonwealth forces under Lend-Lease, the American quarter-ton jeep equipped units across North Africa, the Mediterranean and Italy. General Bernard Montgomery commanded the British Eighth Army from August 1942, leading it at El Alamein and through the subsequent advance into Tunisia and then Sicily and mainland Italy during 1943. Jeeps served the army for reconnaissance, liaison and command travel, and senior officers frequently used them. The chevron and unit markings applied to Eighth Army vehicles typically identified a formation and role rather than a single named vehicle.
