YF-117 Nighhawk 79-10782, 410th FTS, Edwards, 2005 (1:72 Scale)
Product Dimensions: 14.1 x 9.3 x 3.3 in.
Model History and Information: Before series production, Lockheed built five full-scale development airframes under the designation YF-117A to validate the stealth attack aircraft's systems and performance. These machines supported the flight-test effort that led to the operational F-117 fleet, work historically concentrated at Edwards Air Force Base in California. The faceted, single-seat design demonstrated that a low-observable aircraft could also be made reliable and maintainable. Development and early flying were conducted under extreme secrecy, and the Air Force did not publicly acknowledge the aircraft's existence until 1988. Flight testing continued for years afterward as the program matured the stealth attack concept.
