Model History and Information: The Cat 336 hydraulic excavator was announced in July 2022 as a new model in Caterpillar's large excavator range. It uses the Cat C7.1 engine and offers three engine modes: Power for maximum output, Smart to match engine and hydraulic power to digging conditions, and Eco, which holds a constant 1500 rpm. Standard technologies include Cat Payload on-board weighing, Grade Assist and 2D Grade with depth and slope indication. Next Generation cabs come in Deluxe and Premium trim, with a touchscreen monitor, jog dial and keyless pushbutton start. Engine oil and fuel filters are synchronized for service at 1,000 hours, an interval Caterpillar contrasts with the 336F Series.
