Model History and Information: The Outlander is Can-Am's utility and recreation quad, built by BRP around Rotax engines. The 1000R version uses a 999 cc liquid-cooled V-twin rated at about 101 horsepower, fed by electronic fuel injection with an intelligent throttle, and drives through a continuously variable transmission with selectable two-wheel drive, four-wheel drive and a locking front differential. Tri-mode dynamic power steering lets the rider choose how much assistance the machine gives, and engine braking is managed electronically on descents. The XT trim adds working equipment to the base machine.
