Model History and Information: The Cat 6060FS is the front-shovel configuration of Caterpillar's 6060 hydraulic mining shovel, used to load ultra-class haul trucks in surface mines. It carries a 34 cubic meter (44.5 cubic yard) bucket, tailored to 4-pass load 218 to 227 tonne (240 to 250 ton) trucks such as the Cat 793D, 793F, and MT4400D AC, with a bucket payload rating of 61 tonnes (67 tons). The standard drive system uses two Cat 3512C diesel engines producing a combined 3,000 hp (2,240 kW), and Caterpillar also offers an AC electric-drive version, the 6060 AC FS, for a lower cost per ton. Operating weight for the front-shovel configuration is about 569 tonnes (627 tons), and the machine's engine output and hydraulic system are designed for fast cycle times.
