Model History and Information: The Cat® CT681 was a Class 8 set-forward-axle vocational truck built for hauling heavy loads, with suspension capacities ranging from 40,000 to 85,000 lb depending on configuration. Caterpillar tuned its CT-series vocational engine to five ratings between 365 and 430 hp, matched to the Cat CX31 automatic transmission for smooth shifting under heavy vocational loads. An optional Front Frame Extension let operators mount snowplows, hose reels, winches or hydraulic pumps ahead of the cab, and Caterpillar tested the CT681 in mixer, dump, super-dump and snowplow configurations. This 1:87 scale model in Diecast Masters' High Line Series reproduces the CT681 fitted with a concrete-mixer body.
