Product Dimensions: Pending manufacturer confirmation.
Model History and Information: The Grumman TBF Avenger was a three-seat, carrier-based torpedo bomber that first flew in 1941 and entered United States Navy service in early 1942. Its combat debut came at the Battle of Midway in June 1942, when six TBF-1 Avengers of Torpedo Squadron 8, operating from Midway Island, attacked the Japanese fleet. Five were shot down, and a single badly damaged aircraft returned. General Motors later built the type as the TBM, and nearly 10,000 Avengers were produced in all. This model represents a TBF-1 Avenger in early US Navy markings dated January 1942.
