Mirage IIIS J-2334, Swiss Air Force
Product Dimensions: Pending manufacturer confirmation.
Model History and Information: The Mirage IIIS was the Swiss version of the Dassault Mirage III, licence-built by F+W Emmen with American avionics, including the Hughes TARAN-18 radar, and a strengthened airframe. Switzerland originally planned 100 Mirage IIIs, but the cost overruns of the Mirage Affair cut production, and 36 IIIS interceptors and 18 IIIRS reconnaissance aircraft were completed. The first aircraft joined Fighter Squadron 17 in the mid-1960s, and the type was formally retired at a ceremony called Mirage '99 on 22 October 1999. This model represents Mirage IIIS J-2334 in Swiss Air Force markings.
