Model History and Information: The Mirage IIIRS was the photo-reconnaissance version of the Mirage III delta-wing fighter built for Switzerland. The type's prototype first flew in November 1956, and 18 reconnaissance aircraft entered Swiss Air Force service in the late 1960s. They equipped Fliegerstaffel 10, the Swiss reconnaissance squadron based at the military airfield at Buochs, until the unit was disbanded in 2003. The last Swiss Mirage flight took place on 17 December 2003, when R-2118 was landed at Dübendorf for display. This model represents Mirage IIIRS R-2109 of Staffel 10 in 2002, one of the final years of the type in service.
