F-5N "Adversary Fighter" Red 117, 761533, VFC-111, 2017 (1:72 Scale)
Product Dimensions: 7.9 x 7.9 x 2.9 in.
Model History and Information: The F-5N is the United States Navy's adversary version of the Northrop Tiger II. Rather than build new airframes, the Navy bought low-hour F-5E and F-5F fighters retired by the Swiss Air Force from 2006 onwards, refurbishing them to F-5N standard with updated avionics. Small, light and hard to see, the Tiger II makes a convincing stand-in for an opposing fighter, and VFC-111 flies it from Naval Air Station Key West against fleet and visiting squadrons. The arrangement proved durable enough that the Navy agreed to buy a further batch of retired Swiss Tigers to keep the type flying.
