Mirage 2000-5 EI48/2048, 48th Training Group, ROCAF (1:72 Scale)
Model History and Information: Within the Republic of China Air Force's 499th Wing at Hsinchu, the 48th squadron serves as the Mirage conversion and training unit, preparing crews for the operational squadrons that fly air-defense missions. Taiwan received 60 Mirage 2000-5s from 1997, comprising 48 single-seat 2000-5EI fighters and 12 twin-seat 2000-5DI trainers. The single-seat aircraft combine the RDY radar with MICA and Magic missiles, giving the ROCAF a beyond-visual-range interception capability introduced to counter mainland fighter acquisitions. This airframe is presented in training-unit configuration. The Mirage fleet operates from Hsinchu on the island's north-west coast, a base positioned for rapid response toward the Taiwan Strait.
