Model History and Information: Electronic Attack Squadron 138 (VAQ-138), the "Yellowjackets," was established on 27 February 1976 and made its first deployments aboard the aircraft carrier USS Saratoga to the Mediterranean Sea, where it earned a Chief of Naval Operations Safety Award. The EA-6B Prowler was a four-seat, twin-engine electronic-warfare aircraft derived from the A-6 Intruder, operated by the US Navy and Marine Corps from 1971 to 2019. It carried the ALQ-99 tactical jamming system, crewed by a pilot and three electronic countermeasures officers, and could employ the AGM-88 HARM anti-radiation missile. Bureau number 159586 wears Yellowjackets markings representing the squadron's late-1970s Prowler operations from Saratoga during those early Mediterranean cruises.
