Model History and Information: Single-seat export Flankers equipped several front-line People's Liberation Army Air Force regiments after deliveries began in the early 1990s. The 1st Air Division, based at Anshan in Liaoning, ranked among the earliest and most experienced Chinese Flanker operators and later transitioned to the domestically assembled derivative of the same aircraft. This model wears the standard PLAAF grey air-superiority scheme; the photographs of this SKU show no tiger-motif artwork or special display livery. Around 2001 the type formed the backbone of China's air-superiority force while indigenous production matured.
