Model History and Information: The Peterbilt® Model 579 is a Class 8 on-highway tractor that Peterbilt substantially redesigned for the 2021 model year, with a new sloped hood and updated PACCAR MX-13 and MX-11 engines; the UltraLoft sleeper option adds an 80-inch-wide cab extension with about eight feet of headroom, built around the standard PACCAR MX-13 engine. This 1:87 HO scale set reproduces the 579 UltraLoft in a red sleeper-cab finish, paired with a lowboy trailer and a Cat® D5M Track-Type Tractor. The real D5M is a Cat medium dozer built to work in soft or uncompacted ground, used to build and maintain service roads, clear land, and rip compacted material for excavation.
